Humanitarian Organisation of Migration Economics (HOME)
HOME is an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering migrant workers who suffer abuse and exploitation. Guided by three pillars of Welfare, Empowerment and Advocacy, HOME works with corporations, government agencies, and community partners to promote inclusion, justice, equality, and dignity for all. HOME also assists and advocates on behalf of the survivors of human trafficking and forced labour.
Some ways in which HOME provides help include direct assistance, shelter, and free food for domestic workers who have been abused; legal aid for migrant workers in Singapore that extends to when they have returned home to their countries of origin; skills-training and capacity building programmes such as English language classes, computer classes, baking, cooking, and caregiving courses for domestic workers; research and advocacy on key migrant workers issues.
By providing immediate crisis intervention, long-term support, and training programmes, HOME aims to enhance the wellbeing and future economic prospects of migrant workers in Singapore.
Here at Boutiques, we are proud to have built support for HOME and their objectives by connecting them to our growing community. This has led to the emergence of ground-up fundraising efforts and contributions among our vendors towards HOME’s mission, from donating a portion of proceeds made at each fair to conducting classes for HOME’s beneficiaries in their own time.
